Meet Recap

Despite losing 6-12 against D1 opponent, St. Francis, the Minutemen showed great moxy and spirit. In gusty conditions, where winds reached up to 25 MPH, the Minutemen displayed their best form of the season. #1 singles player Matthew Alleman led the way as usual, sweeping his three sets 6-2, 6-4, 6-2, against tough competition. The #1 doubles combo of Bryan Lin and Kelvin Ye took took two tough sets against the #1 and #3 doubles teams of St. Francis (7-6 (7), 2-6, 6-3). The #2 doubles team of Drew Sierra and Billy Tan, partnered for the first time this season, took the other set for the Minutemen in a tiebreak at 7-6 (4) against the #3 doubles team of St. Francis.

The loss broke the Minutemen’s four match winning streak but the team is playing its best tennis going into their first Olympic League match tomorrow at Occidental College. Maranatha completes its nonconference play with a record of 4-2.
