Game Recap

Though the sun was still out the fire work show started with a bang for the Lady Minutemen. Their opponent, Fernley High School (Nevada) came into the game with a 3-0-1 record having tied Chaminade 4-4 and beating their first three opponents 35-0, 21-0, and 12-0. The Lady Minutemen were unintimidated and as the visiting team the first six batters reached base and freshman Priscilla McAllister blasted a two run home run scoring Kymber Yamamoto. Junior captain Carolyn Shankwiler started in the circle and she worked out of jams in the first two inning shutting out Fernley. The Minutemen brought a seven run lead into the third inning where the defense shined again as Freshman Aly Grandos caught a line drive to center field and proceeded to gun down the runner trying to tag from 3rd at the plate. The bats were alive as Maranatha ended with 13 hits and four home runs. Kymber Yamamoto struck with a two run blast in the 4th and Michelle Lieng had two no doubt home runs over the left field fence to go with her double and single. Between the two of them they went 6-6 with three home runs, 9 RBI’s, 6 runs, and two walks. Freshman Priscilla McAllister destroyed a ball over the left field fence for her first career home run. The Minutemen won their pool to advance to the Championship Gold Division and will play Friday at 4pm in the quarter final game.
