Game Recap

The Lady Minutemen played an amazing game tonight as they took on Cathedral City at Home in their second round of CIF. The first goal came from Cathedral in the 10th minute but was answered back 10 minutes later by a goal from Senior #9 Katy Coats on a breakaway finish to the bottom left corner. Cathedral scored again just 5 minutes into the second half to take the lead 2-1 with plenty of time left to play. The Minutemen answered back when Coats scored off a free-kick to tie the game 2-2 and force an overtime. The girls continued to play two-10 minute halves, where the game would end automatically for whichever team scored first. Despite the countless battles and attempts from both teams, there were no goals and the game was sent into penalty kicks. Coats stepped in to play keeper and managed to stop 2 penalty kicks while making her own alongside half the team who made their kicks as well. The girls won the game with penalty kicks tallied at 8-7 Maranatha. The girls will take on Crean Lutheran @ Home @ 5pm on Friday 2/24 in the quarterfinals of CIF.
