In their first matches of the season, two of the top programs in Pasadena squared off in their first meeting since 2014 (the Minutemen won). It was a dog fight right from the get-go, as the evenly matched squads battled throughout.

The Minutemen edged the Eagles in the first round, 4-2, behind two come-from-behind wins by #1 Daniel Guan (6-3) and #3 Nico Engling (6-4). #2 doubles, Billy Tan/Jake Scott and #3 Kenny Cho/Tim Huang dominated their opening sets, both winning, 6-0.

#2 JP Collins got on the board in the second round with a 6-0 win, as did #1 doubles, Matthew Leiva/Michael Mathews, who won, 6-2. Tan/Scott contributed another set, 6-4, leaving Maranatha in the the leads 7-5.

In the final round of play, doubles swept, while Guan won 6-0.

Next up for the Minutemen is Tarbut V Torah on Thursday.
