The Minutemen stormed out early to a 5-1 lead and never looked back. The singles corps of Daniel Guan, JP Collins, and Nico Engling swept their counterparts, while the doubles teams of Matthew Leiva/Michael Mathews and Billy Tan/Jake Scott duplicated the sweeps.
MHS’s two losses came from doubles team, Kenny Cho/Tim Huang, who struggled to find consistency and focus today. As with their opening set against Rowland the day before, they came out tentative and lost their first set; and following their “Rowland script,” they roared back against the #1 team and soundly defeated them with inspired play. They continued that into the third set, building a 5-1 lead, only to lose their focus and fall in the 6-7(3) tie-break.
It wasn’t the best day for the Minutemen, many of whom looked distracted and unfocused; things that will need to be worked out in the days ahead.
