The Lady Minutemen showed up ready to play as the lone senior, Cherise Masuda recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 assists to go with eight rebounds. The rest of the team fed off her energy as Patil Yaacoubian finished with 16 and Emily Jordan chipped in with 12. Freshman center, Mikayla Murphy had six points and Erica De Guzman scored four points but coach Smalley talked about her tenacious defense. “Erica does so many little things that don’t show up in the stats but she has been an anchor for our team all season.” Freshman forward Taliana Marganian and sophomore swing, Mireille Minassian really made their presence felt on defense as well while both contributing a bucket. Sophomores, Ana Boyajian and Macy Asaoka came of the bench with enthusiastic hustle and also scored a bucket each. The Lady Minutemen improve their overall record to 13-10 and 3-3 in league with a clear pathway to the playoffs. “When you consider how far we have come from last season it is amazing but it is certainly attributed to the heart and determination of our team,” said Coach Smalley.
