Still feeling the sting of the narrow season opening loss against Westridge (9-9, 69-73), the Lady Minutemen rebounded in dominating fashion against the Bulldogs of Pasadena HS, winning the first round of play by sweeping the first round, with five sets going 6-0. MHS went 5-1 in each of the second and third rounds. #2 and #3 singles, Malena Smith and Georgia Wilder, each put up a strong fight against PHS’s top player, each barely losing 4-6.
#1 singles, Madison Kane, completed the “golden match,” “bageling” each of her opponents, 6-0. #1 doubles, Michael Wilkins/Aria Haver-Hill, came close to matching Kane, winning 6-0, 6-0, 6-1. #2 doubles, Rose Zhang/Stella Wang, started slowly, falling behind 0-3 and 1-4 before roaring back to pull out their first set, 7-5. They then coasted, 6-2, 6-1. #3 Amanda Yee/Shuhan Yang won their two sets together, 6-0, 6-3 before Molly Mittelberg subbed in for Yang. Mittelberg/Yee won their set, 6-0.
The Lady Minutemen are on the road again on Thursday, as they face Duarte HS at 3:15 p.m.
