The Minutemen traveled to Heritage Christian on Tuesday for a league match against the Warriors. The first half of play saw both sides battling for possession; Maranatha had multiple chances to score, but failed to capitalize. After the break, the scoreless draw forced Maranatha to regroup and refocus, which paid off when Josh Osterman played a cross in from the right. Striker Brenton Holstein headed the ball back post, past the diving Heritage keeper. Five minutes later, Matthew Malhotra earned a penalty kick off a hand ball in the box, and buried it, stretching the lead to two. Heritage would score a minute later, but the Minutemen’s 2 – 1 lead would hold. Maranatha’s winning streak increased to four, with a league record of 2 – 0. The Minutemen play again on Friday at home against Whittier Christian. Kickoff is at 5:30pm.
