In their final match of the Temple City Invitational, Maranatha faced Whittier High School on Saturday. Despite it being a consolation game, the Minutemen were determined to finish the tournament with a win. The first half of play saw multiple opportunities, but at the break, neither team had been able to score . After the restart, Maranatha turned up the offensive pressure, and finally broke the scoreless draw when Matthew Morales beat the keeper off a timely through ball, played by Trey Topalian. Morales would score again before the final whistle, off a pass from Whitman Wilder. The 2-0 shutout snapped a six game winless streak, and puts the Minutemen at an overall record of 2-3-3. Maranatha resumes play on December 26th at the Ontario Christian Christmas Classic Tournament against Rowland High School. Kickoff is at 12:00pm.
