On a rain soaked Thursday, Maranatha traveled to Valley Christian for their final league match of the 2019 season. With both teams set to advance to the CIF Southern Section tournament, a win or loss for either side would not make any difference in the standings. The Minutemen and the Crusaders drew in their first contest earlier in the month, and from the opening whistle, it was game on. Maranatha was looking to score early, but it was Valley that struck first, playing the ball quickly off a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. Ten minutes later, the Minutemen answered, when Oshea Foster’s cross found Matthew Morales, whose back post header was on target. Despite several opportunities during the rest of the match, the scoreline would remain a draw at the closing whistle. Maranatha advances to the CIF tournament with a second place finish in the Olympic League. The first match for the Minutemen in post-season play is TBD.
