Sophomore point guard, Emily Jordan scored 17 points before having to leave the game with a dislocated finger. Coach Smalley said, “Emily was magic on the floor as she did a little bit of everything, rebounding, passing, scoring, so we were all praying for healing with her injury and we had a sigh of relief when we were later told that she would be back soon.” Sophomore forward Mikayla Murphy continued her spirited play by leading all scorers with 19 points and Junior guard, Patil Yaacoubian popped in 18 points as the balanced attacked was too much for Ayala High. Junior wing, Merci Turner sparked a fourth quarter run with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Junior guard, Mireille Minassian chipped seven big points off the bench. “Our entire team showed the type of unity that champions are made of tonight,” said Coach Smalley. The Lady Minutemen now 5-3 on the season, conclude their Burroughs Tournament play Saturday 12/8/18 with a 3:00 PM game against Newberry Park.
